Surviving a day in Bangladesh- isn't it an ACHIEVEMENT?
Bangladesh is progressing day by day, be it in industrial sector, in communication sector, in politics or in economy. However does this progressive county assures the safety of its people? Do Bangladeshi citizens feel safe in their own country?
NO, as a bangladeshi citizen I do not feel safe in my own country. Bangladesh has failed to give me the assurance of my life. At the present times, I fear that once I go out of my house I might not come safely back again to my house . Recently we have witnessed such horrible incidents that definitely make us question about our safety in our country.

"I will not get my son back, I want justice" these were the words of Fardin's father who did not know who is the murderer and why his son was killed. In the end of the investigation, Fardin was accused of being a drug addict.Fardin has been accused of drug use to demoralize the protesters seeking justice for his murder, says his father. This guy had his whole life ahead but one dark night changed everything, snatched a beloved son from a father.

| Alina Islam Ayat Imagine a situation, where you are traveling with your family by car and in the middle of the road a girder suddenly falls down on your running car and in a blink your family and you get smashed down that girder. What can be more brutal than this to imagine ? Surprisingly you don’t need to imagine this situation because it actually happened in our country. At least five people including two children were crushed to death after a girder, part of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, fell on a car in Uttara. The accident occurred due to mechanical failure. A girder was being lifted on a truck for moving to another location. But due to a sudden mechanical failure, the crane veered towards the road and overturned, unable to carry the load. That is when the girder fell on the car. Now lets jump to another incident which is much more shivering which happened just a few days back. On the 2nd December of 2022 a private car hit a woman and dragged her several hundred yards on Dhaka University campus. The woman, Rubina Akhter, 45, died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 4:30pm, about an hour after she was taken there. She was the mother of a schoolboy who who had already lost his father a few years back. The man who was behind the wheel is a former teacher of Dhaka University. In our country people are not even safe at their own house. A school girl in Noakhali was raped and murdered brutally by her former home tutor when she refused to have a relationship with him. This horrible incident happened at her own house. Police recovered Adita's body from her room around 9:30 pm. Her body bore several marks of injury. There is no end to this kind of tragic incidents that happens daily in our country which frighten the life out of us. Surviving each day in Bangladesh is a challenge, living here is compared to living in hell. Sad but the truth is, no matter how much we are developing, how much we are glorifying the development, we still do not have any assurance of our lives in Bangladesh. People die, the country cries but the life goes on. |
